How much should your website cost?

Quotes for the same website in Nigeria run from about ₦10,000 to well over ₦1 million, so it is hard to know what is fair. Answer a few short questions and you will see exactly what yours costs with us, what you pay today and what it costs from year two. Below, a checklist helps you judge any quote, including ours.

1. What should the website do?

Pick the one closest to what you need. Not sure? Most businesses start with the second one, and you can upgrade later.

2. What kind of business is it?

This helps us suggest the right web address and show you a demo from a business like yours.

3. Do you have the words and photos ready?

That means a few lines about each service and some photos of your work. If writing is not your thing, we will happily do it for you.

Every website needs these two things

A web address so people can find you, and hosting so the website stays online. Without both, a website cannot go live. Use your own if you already pay for them, or we arrange them for you.

4. Your web address (domain)

This is the name people type to find you, like yourbusiness.com.ng. Not sure? Keep the one we suggest. It is registered in your name, so it is always yours.

5. Where will your website live (hosting)?

Hosting is where your website lives online. If you do not already pay a hosting company, let us manage it: we keep it running and check its security, uptime and backups for you.

6. Would you like business email?

Optional. An address on your own domain, like info@yourbusiness.com.ng, looks more professional than a Gmail address. It is ₦20,000 a year per address, set up and renewed by us.

7. Would you like us to look after it after launch?

Optional. Many owners start without a plan and add one later. We have marked the one that suits your kind of website.

What we'll need from you

No extra cost. After you pay the deposit, a short questionnaire in your portal collects it all.

  • Your words and photos. A few lines about each service, and photos of your work, premises or team.
  • Your logo, if you have one. We do not design logos. Without one, we set your business name in a clean, professional font.
  • Your contact details. WhatsApp number, phone, email, address or area served, and opening hours.
  • Your details for the domain. Full name or registered business name, address, email and phone, exactly as they should be on record. The registry emails you to confirm them: click that link within 15 days, or the domain is suspended.
  • Proof your school is registered. The registrar asks for it before a .sch.ng address can be issued.
  • An address Google can verify. Google confirms your Business Profile by post, phone or video before you show on Maps.
  • A Paystack account in your business's name. Payments go straight to you. Paystack asks for your CAC registration and BVN, and approval can take a few days, so start early.

What is a domain?

Your web address, like yourbusiness.com.ng. We register it in your name, so it always belongs to you, then set it up, connect it and renew it for you. A .com.ng is ₦5,500 for the first year.

What is hosting?

The computer that keeps your website online day and night. If you already pay a hosting company, we can use it. If not, we can manage it for you for a yearly fee.

What is a care plan?

An optional monthly plan where we make changes for you, and keep your website safe and backed up. Many small websites do not need one: managed hosting already includes security, uptime and backup checks, and a one-off Quick Fix covers the odd change.

What happens after I pay the deposit?

Within one working day we check your answers fit the package and confirm your start date. If anything you need goes beyond your package, we tell you before work starts: you agree the extra in writing, or we refund your deposit in full.

Can I change my mind?

Yes. Saving a price costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If you pay the deposit and change your mind before work starts, you get it back in full.

What a fair quote should list

  • What the site will do, page by page or feature by feature, in writing.
  • Whose name the domain is registered in. It should be yours, on your own account.
  • What hosting costs each year after the first, and who pays it.
  • How many rounds of changes are included, and what extra changes cost.
  • When you pay: a deposit and a balance on delivery, not everything upfront.
  • The delivery date, and what happens to it if your content is late.
  • What you get at handover: admin login, hosting access and the files.
  • Third-party costs listed separately: domain, payment gateway fees, paid plugins, SMS.

Red flags: ask again or walk away

  • The domain will be registered in the developer's name or account.
  • Full payment before any work starts, on anything bigger than a small fix.
  • No written scope, only a WhatsApp conversation.
  • "Free hosting forever" with no company behind it.
  • They will not say who keeps the admin login after launch.
  • A price that does not say what is included, so every addition becomes a new bill.

Why quotes vary so much

A very cheap quote usually leaves something out: the domain is in the developer's name, hosting is a free plan that disappears, the words and photos are yours to supply, or changes after launch cost extra. A very expensive quote should be able to show you what the extra money buys. Compare quotes line by line against the checklist above, not by the headline price.
